Day 3 Belize – Because Why Not?

After a pretty good night’s sleep I woke up around 8:00. We had no specific plans today so there was no need to rush. I made an egg, ham, and cheese bagel for breakfast. I don’t really like bagels but Laurie recommended toasting it and it actually wasn’t too bad.

It was almost noon before Linda and I left for our next geocaching adventure. There were 5 geocaches to the North and we decided that we would drive to the furthest cache first and make our way back. Although the furthest cache was only 15 miles away it took an hour an a half in the golf cart to get there. The ride was pretty bumpy on the paved roads, but it was even slower and bumpier when we got to the sandy road. Unfortunately I didn’t find the three caches that were the furthest away. Did I read the logs before we started the adventure for the day? No. Should I have? Probably, but Linda and I agreed that although it was quite the trek in a golf cart it was something to do and it was nice view along the ocean.

The trip wasn’t a complete waste as I was able to find the other two caches that were on the way back to town with relative ease, but obviously I failed at my selfie picture taking when I snapped a picture of myself and the cache at one of the locations. I didn’t notice that it was a bad picture until after we had long left it, and now I find it hilarious.

We got back into town and we were more than ready for lunch/dinner. We stopped at a restaurant located next to the airport. It looked like it had a nice vibe, but after looking at an unimpressive menu Linda and I decided to go somewhere else. The next place we stopped is located near our apartment and Linda had previously eaten there with Pete and Laurie. After we ordered our food I noticed a woman sitting at the bar with a t-shirt from the place we passed on. She was sitting by herself so I went over and asked her about the place on the t-shirt. She has been living here for 14 years and she that they have really good food and their cheeseburgers were way better than the place we were at. Great. Linda and I had already both ordered the cheeseburger. It was just ok. I think we might need to go back and eat at the place we passed on.

I was feeling in need for a sweet treat so we stopped at the store and I got a strawberry ice cream sandwich. I could barely taste the strawberry, but it was still good but not something I would go out of my way for in the future.

Back at the apartment I went down to the pool and started a book, “The Summer Pact”, that was in the apartment and made it to Chapter 4 before Pete and Laurie came out and said they were going for a walk. Although my watch says I have thousands of steps, those were all from the bumpy golf cart ride, so it felt great to go out for a walk. After the walk Linda and I watched the movie “My Oxford Year” on Netflix and we put on one more movie on that I had previously seen while I typed up the blog before we called it a night.

Stats Of The Day

Steps: 29,624 (I’m sure at least 25,000 of those are from the 3 hours in the golf cart)

Geocaches: 2 of 5 found

Cost To Fill Golf Cart With Gas: $11.00
