Day 4 Belize – Happy Valentine’s Day!I

I had another good night of sleep on the couch and when I woke up at around 7:30 I could tell almost immediately that whatever runny nose stuff I had been fighting was gone. I’m glad it never developed into anything worse than an annoying nose drip. I ate another egg, ham, and cheese bagel for breakfast and got ready for the day. We hadn’t made any plans so we spent some time sitting outside and researched some snorkeling options to do either tomorrow or later this week. We think we found something that we liked, and it looked like we would be able to make same day reservations, so let’s hope that’s true for when we decide to do it.

We finally got going around Noon and headed to the beach. The water still has a ton of seagrass washing to shore so it is currently not the most picturesque scene. Pete, Laurie, and Linda told me that it was not like that before I arrived so I hope to see it clear before I leave. None-the-less I still enjoyed my time soaking in the sun and reading “The Summer Pact”. We felt like we had gotten our fill of sun and around 2:45 headed back to the apartment. We stopped at a little bakery/restaraunt where Linda and Laurie bought a couple of items, but nothing in the case called my name. They did have a nice little “photo booth” area set up for Valentine’s Day and I liked the mural they had painted on the wall. Look at it closely. Those are not people sitting in the restaraunt, it is the mural.

Pete, Laurie, and Linda ate when we got back to the apartment (Pete and Laurie got chicken from the same place we went the other day and Linda made a potato and a beet). I wasn’t feeling any of that and I wasn’t starving so I thought I would wait and maybe grab something later. We walked to the town center to see what was going on for Carnivale. Now we didn’t exactly know what they are doing for Carnivale, but we’ve been seeing them set up and when I Googled it, it said Carnivale takes place in the middle of February. Well today is exactly the middle of February and a Saturday, so we thought something might be happening. Well nothing was going on today, but I talked to some locals who told me it will be tomorrow around 5:00. Maybe we’ll try again tomorrow.

We got back around 5:00 which gave me some more time before the sun went down to continue to read my book by the pool. I stayed until the bugs started to come out and the sun was almost down. I did a solo run for tacos from the same street vendor from the day I arrived. They were just as good as the first time.

Linda and I watched the movie “The Land of Saints and Sinners” with Liam Neesom on NetFlix and a three episode docuseries on the current ice dancing top three competitors. I haven’t watched the Olympics this year, but that would have been great to watch prior to the Olympics. I Googled the results instead.
