Day 5 Belize – Snorkel Adventure

I woke up around 8:00 and all signs of me having the sniffles have essentially disappeared. I’m glad it never developed into a full-fledge cold. After getting ready I walked to the fruit station next to our apartment and got a banana and dragon fruit smoothie and then walked back to the bakery we were at yesterday for an almond danish. I couldn’t really taste the dragon fruit in the smoothie but I still thought it was good. In the future I probably would just get a strawberry banana one. The danish was a little dry but still hit the spot.

Back at the apartment I sat down by the pool and continued to read my book until we were ready to go on our snorkeling adventure to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. We were on a private tour but while snorkeling we did have to stick with our guide and follow him. The snorkeling was pretty good and I saw a couple of sea turtles and lots of different fish and coral. I didn’t see a sting ray but the rest of the group did. At Shark Ray Alley I was the only one to get out of the boat and snorkel with the nurse sharks. It was pretty neat! I enjoyed it quite a bit. The tour was stated for 3 hours, but because of the currents we finished it in 2 hours. At least that was the excuse our guide told us.

Back at the apartment we showered up and started a load of laundry. Laurie, Linda, and I went on the hunt for some dinner. We ended up at Gill-E’s Pour House (https://gillespourhouse.com) on the beach. We had chips and pico de gallo for an appetizer that was pretty good. I had the fish in the Maya Style Banana Leaf. It was really good although I was disappointed that they were out of the steam vegetables for the choice of one of my sides. It did come with a million peppers and onions that we boxed up along with a bunch of french fries that we took back to Pete who ate them. I also enjoyed feeding bits of our food to a cat who looks like Vector.

Back in the apartment Linda, Laurie, and I played three games of Rumikub with each of us winning a game. Linda and I checked out Apple TV and watched the movie Eternity. It was ok. We were game for one more show so we watched the first episode of the new season of Love Is Blind on Netflix before it was time to call it a night at around midnight.
