To Airport: Hot Chick & Some Guy

October 13, 2022

A new adventure begins!! We have been planning for quite some time a trip to New England. I have only been to Boston (more than 20 years ago) and Tom has never been at all. We planned for Autumn in hopes of seeing some of the great fall colors, but I’m thinking we might be past peak season. Hopefully there is still some beauty to be seen!

Our flight wasn’t until 5:50 this evening but we asked Uncle Dennis to pick us up at 4:00 to give us plenty of time at the airport to eat dinner. I had pretty much packed the night before, so when I got home from work at 3:00 I had just a few things left to do. Tom on the other hand had not yet packed by the time I got home, so I still felt rushed and scrambled. Uncle Dennis was very prompt and gave us the best chauffeur experience to the airport. I particularly liked the sign he made for us.

Getting through check-in and security was easy peasy and we had plenty of time to sit down at the Bartalotta’s restaurant in Terminal D and enjoy a drink and nice dinner. The three drinks we ordered cost more than the food!! We knew airport dining wouldn’t be cheap, but we didn’t care. It’s great to start a vacation with a good meal and beverage.

We had a good flight with no delays. Even though the bus to the rental car center was packed, we had no wait at the counter. Tom and I didn’t agree if we should pay the $65 for the toll transponder. I’m taking the gamble that we won’t be going through any tolls. If we do happen to go through one it will be the cost of the toll and a $15 admin fee. When I brought up the GPS to the AirBnB I selected the no toll route option so at this point, we’re good. I’m kicking myself for forgetting our IPass at home.

Nice view of General Mitchell IAP as we left

We got to the AirBnB with no issues. We are staying in a room in an apartment. This is the first time we are renting a place where it is just a room and not the whole place to ourselves. Honestly it feels just like staying at a friends house, we just don’t happen to know this friend. Hopefully we get a good nights sleep for our day to Salem, MA and Portland, ME tomorrow!

Stats of the Day:

Glass of Wine @ Airport: $16.50
2 Captain & Cokes @ Airport: $35.00
Tolls Avoided: 1
