90’s Cruise – Day 2 Day At Sea

We woke up around 8:30 and took our time getting ready for the day to include spending some quality time on the phone with Verizon. Before we left for the trip Tom had gone to Verizon to set up the international phone plan for myself for my upcoming trip to Belize. It is a 30-day plan but Tom told them to start it to coincide with Belize and didn’t think about accounting for the cruise. After some frustrations were vented when it was realized that both trips were within a 30-day window, we called Verizon and they were easily able to change the start date and the crisis was averted.

We ate breakfast on the deck at the back of the boat. It was super relaxing and we took our time. The first activity of the day that we wanted to attend was the 90’s Cruise T-Shirt party featuring a Smash Mouth performance at the pool stage at 12:15. They sounded great and it was a lot of fun. After the show we went back to the room so Tom could put on swim trunks and sunscreen and we headed back out for a performance at the pool stage by Tonic. Tom hung out in the pool for the Tonic show while I just got my feet wet. When I wasn’t looking Tom got out of the pool and freaked me out for a minute when I couldn’t find him.

At dinner Tom and I both had the shrimp linguini which we thought was good. After the first night of dinner, I don’t think we ever thought again about taking pictures of any of our other meals. I think we were too busy enjoying the conversations with the people around us to think about taking a picture. This night we were seated at a table of 6 and low and behold who was at our table but Matt and Linsay from the night before! We did make conversation with the other two ladies at the table but honestly we both found them kind of annoying.

We walked out of dinner with Matt and Linsay and went with them to the Cold as Ice Bartender Show, which was a bit like watching the bartender scene from the movie Cocktail, but not as good. From there we listened to some karaoke before we got in line to wait for the Better Than Ezra show in the main theater. Matt and Linsay and reserved seats so we split ways before the show. This time Tom and I sat off to the side in a slightly elevated row where there are no seats behind you. The seats were a better view than we had the night prior and there was no one behind us so we didn’t have to listen to anyone be annoyed with us standing. Better Than Ezra put on a great show. We were not disappointed at all.

After the show we ran into some fellow Wisconsinites and chatted for a bit with them. They wanted us to go to the DJ Kool party with them, but we weren’t feeling it and we just kind of wandered away from them. As we were heading back to our room we saw Kid ‘n Play in the hallway and Tom did everything in his power to suppress his inner groupie. Unfortunately it wasn’t until the next day that we realized that we had missed our opportunity to see Kid ‘n Play perform. Like most of the bands on the ship they only perform twice. The first time they performed was the first night, but it was during the same time as our main stage act of TLC. Tonight they performed while we were hanging out and having a good time with Matt and Linsay. We just hadn’t stayed on top of the schedule and Tom had assumed they would be performing again sometime during the week. Had we known that was their last performance on the ship we would have left Matt and Linsay or talked them into going to watch it with us. Unfortunately we learned the importance of the daily schedule the hard way. Note to self for future concert cruises: bring a highlighter.
