Grenada Scuba and Snorkeling Adventure

Today we all got up early so we could get out the door and to the marina on time for our 8:00 meet time for our snorkeling (Erica and I) and diving adventure for Amanda with Scuba West Indies. There was only one other guest who was on the snorkeling tour with us, so it was nice to have a small group. At the first stop I put on the face mask that I brought with me from home and as I was about to get in the water I realized everything was super blurry. I was so confused as to why the mask was not clear until I realized I brought Tom’s prescription goggles instead of mine! Thank goodness they had extra gear on the boat and too bad I wasted space in my carry-on for a mask and snorkel that I couldn’t even use. We snorkeled for about 50 minutes and saw plenty of fish. I can’t say anything in particular stood out to me but it was very nice snorkeling. On our way to the second snorkel spot we had some snacks and some Sorrel hot tea. Sorrel is the same hibiscus plant that was used in the cold drink we had the day before. The hot tea version was just as good! If I could find it, I would buy it! The second stop was the MolinereBay Underwater Sculpture Park. The park was the first of it’s kind when it was created in 2006 and it is now listed as one of National Geographic’s 25 Wonders of the World. The scultptures are made from a long-lasting and pH neutral cement which allow coral polyps to attach themselves to the sculptures. There are over 75 sculptures that are about 10 to 26 feet deep. The sculptures remind me of items you buy for your aquarium at home for decoration or for your fish to hide. Basically it’s the same concept just on a bigger scale. It’s a pretty cool idea and it was fun to snorkel. For more information and pictures of the scluptures go to: https://underwatersculpture.com/projects/molinere-underwater-sculpture-park/

When the excursion was over we were all pretty hungry so we ventured over to a nearby beach restaraunt for lunch where we also had received a free drink token from Scuba West Indies. That was a pretty smart business partnership/marketing strategy for both companies. The rum punch was pretty tasty and I had the ribs while Erica and Amanda each got the coconut shrimp. All of us really enjoyed our meal. The ribs were falling off the bone perfect and super tasty.

Back at the BnB Amanda stayed back to relax after her dive and Erica and I headed to the two nearby beaches for another beach treasure hunt. Once again we came away with sea glass and sea shell treasures. I will definitily have to pick through and only bring home the best of the best. We headed back to the BnB for 5:30 to meet Izzy so we could pay for the tour we took yesterday. It was nice to see her again and meet her kiddos (who were super cute).

The rest of the evening we spent cleaning up, relaxing, snacking, eating leftovers and playing Swoop. We played one round of Sticks but decided that the sticks and rules were not clear and just became too irritating to play. I think I felt this way after the last time I played that game. Again, I probably could have saved some room in my luggage and left that at home. What I failed to bring was Phase 10, which is always a favorite of ours to play. We ended the evening with watching an Amazon Prime romcom “Love Hypothesis”. It’s your typical cheesy, predictable romcom but we liked it!
