Last Full Day in Grenada & Trip Home

Erica and I were up and moving before Amanda, so we headed down to the two beaches that are walking distance from the house. We picked up some more beach treasures before heading back to shower to get ready for the day. When we were getting in the car we noticed that the side view mirror that I had hit yesterday was kind of dangling from it’s housing. Uh oh! Thankfully we found the little plastic piece that had broken off that helps clip the mirror in place on the ground next to the car. Our new first stop of the day was to the home improvement store. I’m so glad that they had lots and lots of different adhesive glues to choose from. Between Amanda and Erica and Chat GPT we picked the one out that we thought would do the job. Conveniently next to the home improvement store was the Spiceland Mall. You wouldn’t necessarily think that a mall is the place to go for souvenir shopping, but they did have a couple of stores that fit the bill. I found a Christmas ornament to add to my collection of ornaments from the places I have travelled.

After we were done shopping we were ready for lunch and to check another item off our list. We headed to the West Indies Beer Co. We each got a flight of 4 beers to sample and ordered a cheeseburger and fish fry to share. I liked the four beers that I picked out to sample, but there were a few that Amanda and Erica had that they didn’t care for as much. I did try all of theirs as well, but the fruity beers are just not my jam. I thought the burger and fish was really good. I’m really glad we split everything and didn’t get a third dish. With what we had, there was plenty for all of us.

After lunch we headed back to the BnB for auto repair with Chat GPT and friends. I forgot to take a picture of the “after” but I do believe it is securly back in place. I haven’t tested out adjusting the mirror yet as we really wanted to make sure the glue has lots of time to cure, but fingers crossed it does the job.

With the mirror back in place it was time to head down to Groom’s Beach. It was still beautiful out and Erica and I took another walk for treasure (I only picked up 2 pieces of sea glass) before we joined Amanda in the water, as she had been snorkeling while we were beach hunting. We waded for a quite awhile and enjoyed watching the sunset and a couple getting married on the beach. With the sun down it was time to get back and get ready for dinner.

For dinner we headed a short distance via the car to Pink Gin Beach to a restaurant that Izzy had recommended. They had an interesting array of items on their menu but we stuck to an assortment of appetizers to share to include a caprese salad, hummus, kibbeh, and muttabel (which is a dip made from eggplant). We each had a mojito as well. Mine was blueberry and there was no shortage of blueberries in the drink. The food and drinks were so delicious and a great meal to end the trip.

Back at the BnB we did laundry and played Swoop. I have a note that I won 3 games, Erica 2, and Amanda 0 but I don’t recall if that was from this evening or another day . . . but needless to say we did play quite a few times this trip.

Since I’m typing this up after I’m already home I will not do a separate post about our travels home and just include it here instead. In the morning Erica and I did a final beach walk before we went back to shower and pack. We left the BnB with plenty of time to get gas and get to the airport. Turning the rental car in we were feeling confident in our mirror fix, but was surprised when they found a crack on the left side rear bumper. I don’t remember when or where that might of occurred and we didn’t take pictures or video of the vehicle when we picked it up (note to self . . . that is always a good idea) so we just sucked up the approximate $133 charge because I’m sure I probably did cause the damage. I can only imagine what they would have charged for the sideview mirror if that was still dangling. I did find it interesting that the rental car lady had said she had seen us driving around a couple of times. I guess it tells you how small the island is and/or how well she can pick out her rental cars. LoL We didn’t have any issues getting checked in and had plenty of time to grab a bite to eat in the airport. I had a chicken pesto mozzarrella crepe that was ok. Amanda’s flight was supposed to leave before ours, but she was delayed so when Erica and I were walking out to board our plane and we saw the other flight’s jetway full of people we turned and waved even though we had no idea if Amanda was in that line. Turns out she was! She texted and said she saw us wave. On the plane I ended up in a window seat with nobody in the middle and someone on the aisle. The guy on the aisle offered to buy me a shot, but I respectfully declined. I wish he would have declined the IPA beer and couple of shots that he drank because he got drunk and was was flopping over the seat. So glad nobody was in that middle seat. That would have been bad! In Atalnta Erica and I had plenty of time and ate some Qdoba for dinner. Once again I was in the back of the plane with a full row, but once we were in the air I moved to the row behind where there was nobody sitting and had a nice snooze. What another great girl’s trip adventure! It went by so fast!
